Science Labs K- Students will be talking about what science is and what scientists do. We will talk about how to stay safe in the lab. They will perform a lab dealing with their 5 senses. 1st- Students will be introduced to pushes and pulls. We will make a balloon rocket and talk about what is making it move and how to get it to move farther. 2nd- Students will begin to talk about the different states of matter. Students will perform a lab that illustrates the differences in the molecules while a substance is a solid, liquid or gas. 3rd- Students will begin talking about ecosystems and the different types of landforms in them. Students will label the different parts of a volcano and have a discussion about why they erupt. They will then make a volcano erupt with baking soda and vinegar. 4th- Students will begin to talk about force and motion. We will discuss a push and a pull. Students will experiment with different amounts of force of an object and determine its motion. 5th- Students will begin to talk about force and motion. We will discuss the different forces acting upon an airplane (drag, gravity, thrust and lift) and construct a glider. Students will experiment with the placement of the hoops.
